In the series finale, the Gary SouthShore RailCats (10-9) allowed the Chicago Dogs (11-8) to have one win in the series with a 6-1 final on Sunday at Impact Field in Chicago.

The loss to Chicago snapped the RailCats’ four-game winning streak, but despite today’s result, Gary SouthShore earned the series victory with three wins in four games.

Jake Dahlberg earned the win for the Dogs in four innings of work out of the bullpen. Dahlberg entered the game in the fourth and calmed the RailCats with no earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts. David Griffin took the loss, allowing four runs, three of which earned, in four innings on five hits and three strikeouts.

The RailCats struck first in the third inning with an MJ Rookard single into left to plate Tyler Van Marter, but the Dogs quickly tied things up in the bottom of the frame and added insurance in the fourth. Van Marter had a 2-for-3 day at the dish with a double, his first multi-hit effort in his professional career.

Ryan Lidge went 3-for-4 in the Dogs win and drove in three while Grant Kay plated one on a triple during his 2-for-4 performance.

Greg Duncan threw two scoreless innings in his second appearance of the year, maintaining a perfect ERA over four innings of work in the series.

After a day off tomorrow, the Gary SouthShore RailCats will return to action with a three-game series against the Kansas City Monarchs at the Steel Yard on Tuesday, June 8 with first pitch at 7:10 p.m.
