Footlight Players is pleased to announce their latest production “The Legend of Georgia McBride” by Matthew Lopez. He’s young, he's broke, his landlord's knocking at the door, and he's just found out his wife is going to have a baby. To make matters even more desperate, he is fired from his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run down, small-town Florida dive bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace him, Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business - and himself. After reluctantly filling in for one of the girls, he trades his sequined jumpsuit for a sequined dress. Casey evolves his new act into a drag persona that is uniquely his. This music-filled, fierce, fabulous showbiz comedy celebrates finding your voice and singing your own song.
This is local actress Bobbi Ann Lauritsen’s directorial debut. Bobbi Ann has been excited to bring the show to the local stage ever since originally seeing it in Chicago three years ago.
Derek von Werder, playing “Casey,” says of working on the show: “I'm discovering a new love and respect for drag and its performers. I'm expressing myself through dance in a new way. I'm working with incredible performers and good human beings,” while Deveon Williams, playing “Miss Tracey Mills” says: “the talent from this cast and crew is nothing short of wonderful! creating with these divas has been nothing but laughter and joy.”

The cast and crew of “The Legend of Georgia McBride” includes director Bobbi Ann Lauritsen, assistant director Cas Jones, Derek von Werder as “Casey,” Deveon Williams as “Miss Tracey Mills,” Zach Puplis “Eddie,” Dean Perrine as “Rexi/Jason,” and Alayna Lauritsen as “Jo” and as producer.
