Indiana State Police Lafayette District Commander Recognized for 30 Years of Service

Lafayette Post – The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Doug Carter, recognized Lieutenant Tom McKee for achieving 30 years of service to the department and the citizens of Indiana.

McKee is a native of Allegheny County, PA, and graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1984. McKee then attended Purdue University and obtained his bachelor's degree in Law and Society in 1988. During that time, McKee joined the United States Marine Corps in 1985 and was on active duty until 1993. McKee remained in the Marine Corps Reserves until 2007 when he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.

In December 1993, McKee graduated from the 51st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was assigned to the Lafayette District. In 2001, McKee transferred to the Lafayette District Criminal Investigation Division, where he served as a detective. McKee was promoted to Investigative Squad Leader in 2004 and then to District Investigative Commander in 2009. In 2014, McKee was promoted to the Indiana State Police Lafayette District Commander and currently serves in that position.

During McKee's 30-year career, he served on the Tactical Intervention Platoon and Emergency Response Team. McKee was also a Hostage Crisis Negotiator and a Defensive Tactics Instructor. McKee attended the 251st session of the FBI National Academy and graduated from it in 2012.

McKee currently resides in Warren County.
