Have You Tried Plunkett Research?
Research industry statistics and trends. This database contains very in-depth industry reports.
You Asked, We Answered!
Question: My son is a reluctant reader. He only likes Dog Man and isn’t interested in other books. How can I get him to read something new?
Answer: We offer NoveList Plus, a database that can help you find books that are similar to other books you like.
If you search a title in NoveList, it will bring up separate lists for similar titles, similar authors, and similar series.
If you’d like a little more nuance, NoveList also lets you search by story elements, such as appeal factors, genres, and more. Would you like something fast-paced? Something with anthropomorphic characters? A book about dogs? You can mix and match as you search!
Books in a graphic novel format often use a robust vocabulary and teach picture literacy. But if your son would like to try a more traditional format, NoveList can help you find chapter books with the same appeal factors as Dog Man.
You can also limit your searches by age and reading level. Best of all, this database includes books for teens and grown-ups, too, so the whole family can find books they’ll love!
If you need help finding your way around NoveList our librarians would be happy to show you how the pros use it the next time you visit. Happy reading!
