LCSO CELEBRATES BEETHOVEN'S BELATED 250th BIRTHDAY

Under the direction of the LCSO’s 6th and final Music Director Candidate, Wilbur Lin, the Orchestra will perform:

  • Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue”
  • Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.

The concert will be performed at La Porte's Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street and will begin at 3:00 PM CDT (Chicago Time). A limited number of tickets for purchase will be available to the public.  Masks will be required for attendance.

Since 2019, Wilbur Lin has served as the assistant conductor for the Cincinnati Symphony and is a graduate from Riccardo Muti’s Italian Opera Academy. Lin is a Doctor of Music graduate from the Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and is a two-time recipient of the Mortimer Furber Prize for Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music. He is the founder of the Chamber Philharmonic Taipei, which began as a student orchestra and is now a professional chamber orchestra. Lin studied under the direction of Riccardo Muti and other well-known conductors and directors. He has conducted orchestras such as the MAV Symphony in Budapest, the Taiwan Symphony, the Orquestra de Cadaqués in Spain, and the Missouri Symphony as well as conducting Verdi’s Macbeth at Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Italy and more.

The LCSO is also excited to welcome Carey Scheck, a La Porte resident that will be the piano soloist on Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Ms. Scheck is a graduate of Valparaiso University and Western Illinois University with degrees in Piano Performance and is currently a Music Teacher in the La Porte Community School Corporation. Ms. Scheck’s appearance is sponsored by Alan & Kathleen Lang, Leigh & Marcia Morris and Bert & Adi Veenendaal.

Tickets for the performance are $20 - Adult and $18 - Senior and are available at www.lcso.net or by visiting Roxy Music or the Civic Auditorium in La Porte. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Doors open at 2:00 PM. The concert begins at 3:00 PM CDT (Chicago Time). All times are central.
