The Witches: A SummerSTAGE Production Camp
July 5-23 | 1-8 p.m. | Grades 6-12 | Three week, full-day camp
Play Synopsis: This is a faithful adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story in which Boy and his Grandmother defeat the Grand High Witch and her followers, who are holding a Conference in an English seaside hotel. During the struggle, Boy gets turned into a mouse. The Witches are nothing like the ones who wear pointed hats and fly on broomsticks–they look very much like ordinary women, which helps their deception. Humour is provided by the vulgar Jenkins family, whose son, Bruno, also becomes a mouse.
This production camp for older youth actors will culminate in a final performance of The Witches. Not only will campers have the experience of putting on a show in a short timeframe, but they will also get an intensive acting and performing experience filled with workshops, games, and other activities that will help them become stronger actors and make great friends while doing so.

Movement and Dance for Young Actors
July 19-23 | 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Grades 5-8
What we see onstage is physical – facial expressions, gestures, blocking and choreography. This movement-focused camp offers an exploration of how to tell a story without words. Through movement activities and acting exercises we will bring fullness and presence into our culminating performance. Spatial exploration, breath work, group work, and improvisational movement will guide character development discovery in this camp that’s all about intuition/instinct, collaboration, and building confidence through movement.
