The Munster Police Department encourages the public to use the “Report It” Citizen Property Inventory System to store some information about your property and valuables including serial numbers, photos, and any other identifying information that could be helpful to police detectives in the event that they are lost or stolen.

Often our police department will find that when investigating burglaries, thefts, or other criminal acts that the victim will not have information saved such as serial numbers or photos of the items. If this information is available to police it can help us to track down the items or identify them easier if they are recovered.

This system is very similar to a program that was called “Operation Identification” in the past but allows the information to be stored in a secure location in the event that it is needed. If you would like to make use of this FREE system, please visit www.reportit.leadsonline.com.

Always report any criminal activity to the police department immediately by calling 911.
