This summer, get your creativity on at South Shore Arts with a summer art class or workshop. In-studio weekly classes are available with an abundance of COVID-safety precautions for children, youth, adults and seniors. Those who prefer to learn from the comfort of their own home or studio may do so through live, online classes, in which students and instructors interact with each other via Zoom. Special summer workshops and art camps are also available this summer. Registration opens May 10, 2021, and classes begin the week of June 21, 2021.
Those who have taken art classes at South Shore Arts before will be happy to see the familiar favorites in ceramics, drawing, painting, and printmaking. New classes to look for include a class for adults, “Drawing & Painting: the Art Elements,” in which students will focus on observational drawing and painting in a variety of two-dimensional mediums. The instructor will guide the class through the process of drawing in proportion, shading, highlighting, and adding color. Another summer workshop for adults will be “Ceramic Bust Sculpture,” a special 3-session workshop in which students will create an 8-inch clay sculpture. The instructor will guide students through the construction process and facial feature proportions.
If you’re looking to get the kids into creative activities this summer, South Shore Arts will offer a variety of weekly classes in ceramics, drawing, painting, and more. Special week-long summer art camps are available online and in-studio, including topics such as “Digital Illustration,” using the program Procreate to design original digital artwork; “Pet Portraits,” learning the methods of observational drawing from a photograph to create a painting of your favorite furry friend; and “Art Gone Wild,” a workshop for the youngest artists to experiment with a variety of art materials in a space where making a mess is celebrated.
