Dear neighbor,
I want to take a moment to recognize the many business owners, organizations, community partners, volunteers, first responders, public works employees, utility workers and National Guard members who have gone above and beyond to help and support our communities during this incredibly challenging time.
As we all work together to rebound following the severe weather, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to:
- Food Bank of Northwest Indiana for yesterday’s food drive
- PepsiCo for donating 520 cases of water
- URW Recycling for donating generators to help get traffic lights back in operation and support public safety
- Sam Cooper, CEO of PolyJohn Enterprises, and Rob Ferrino, CEO of 219 Development, for delivering 1,000 FEMA-rated tarps to Munster, Highland and Griffith
- Legacy Foundation for grant funding through House District 12 to provide relief assistance to our local municipalities
- The Lions Club for grilling and providing food for members of our community
- Munster Church for donating 1,000 hot dogs and burgers to the Social Center
- Westminster Presbyterian Church for grilling food for over 1,100 people
- Dunkin’ Donuts for donating coffee and donuts to our first responders and volunteers
- Paul Goddard, a regional news source, for sharing with the community timely and accurate information
- The 219 National Guard members for their tremendous community emergency response and support
- The governor’s office for their collaboration and support
- And to the countless community volunteers, first responders, public works employees and utility workers working tirelessly on the ground.
- The Indiana Department of Corrections Chief of Staff Kevin Orme who is helping to coordinate relief efforts and debris removal with a 30-person crew
Your generosity, compassion and commitment are making a real difference. In times like these, it’s crucial that we stick together and help our neighbors whenever and however we can. We are stronger together.
