The past few months have been a difficult time for all of us. Here at the Auditorium, we miss presenting world-class performances on our stage and serving as an anchor of Chicago’s robust cultural landscape. But what we miss the most is you — we miss seeing our friends and supporters walk into our beautiful theatre. Although we have found ways to connect digitally, we know there is simply no alternative to experiencing live performance and the glory of our National Historic Landmark theatre in person.
While we are eager to reopen, the reality is that we simply do not know when that will be possible. We are continuing to work with public health officials to establish guidelines that will determine when we are able to host events again.
With so much uncertainty, we have not yet announced the Auditorium Theatre’s 2020-21 Season, which typically would have been revealed in the spring. Because the current situation is evolving every day, and because so many things are still unclear, we will do our best moving forward to only announce performances that we feel are likely to occur. We are committed to keeping you updated on our upcoming performances through our emails, website, and social media channels.
While the theatre is closed, we are working on making some updates to the building itself. We are making physical improvements in the theatre, such as sprucing up paint and carpeting. We also are using this time to clean and disinfect many spaces throughout the theatre multiple times a week so that we can ensure your safety once we reopen.
When we reopen — and we will reopen! — it is our hope that you will return to an Auditorium Theatre that is wholly revitalized. It is our hope that you will return to our landmark theatre to feel inspired and uplifted by the performing arts once again.
We thank you for your support, and we can’t wait to see you again.
Sincerely,
Rich Regan
Auditorium Theatre CEO
