
Tippecanoe County, Indiana – On June 2, 2025, just before 5:00 a.m., Trooper McKinney was patrolling US 52 near County Road 500 West when he attempted to stop a 2025 Honda Civic for speeding. The driver failed to stop and fled eastbound on US 52.
Trooper McKinney pursued the vehicle onto Sagamore Parkway, through West Lafayette to Soldiers Home Road, then to Happy Hollow Road, River Road, and eastbound on State Street. The pursuit continued into Lafayette, ultimately leading to an address on Marble Arch Way.
The driver attempted to pull into the garage of the residence, but troopers and deputies from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office were able to safely apprehend the subject. He was identified as Andy Salazar, 32, of Lafayette, and transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Trooper McKinney was assisted by additional troopers from the Lafayette Post and deputies from the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
